PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC-A 58-year-old man will return to court on September 11 after he was granted TT$400,000 (One TT dollar=US$0.16 cents) bail on charges of Kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Venezuelan teenager.
Denniston Spence has been charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a child, Kidnapping, false imprisonment, indecent assault, malicious wounding, theft, and possession of an offensive weapon.
He appeared in the Chaguanas Second Magistrates’ Court in central Trinidad on Monday and was not called upon to plead for seven of the offenses, but did plead guilty to the theft charge.
The matter has adjourned to September 1, and as a condition of bail, he is to report to the Marabella Police Station, south of here, twice a week and not have any contact with the victim or her immediate family, whether in person, social media or a third party.
According to the police, the Venezuelan reported that on August 5, she hired a vehicle to take her to Chaguanas.
But she claimed that the driver drove into a side street, dragged her out of the vehicle, removed her clothing, tied up her hands, and photographed her with her cellular phone.
“The victim alleges the man then had sexual intercourse with her without her consent before dealing her two stab wounds to her collar bone. The assailant then left in the vehicle with her cellular phone in his possession,” the police said in a statement.
