PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Independent Senator and president of the National Council for Indian Culture (NCIC) Deoroop Teemal has died.
His death was confirmed in a statement by the NCIC on Sunday.
“We regret to inform the public of the passing of Senator Deoroop Teemal, President of the National Council for Indian Culture (NCIC), who died early this morning,” it stated.
The NCIC said Teemal was a ‘dedicated leader and passionate advocate for the cultural preservation and community development’.
Teemal was a civil and structural engineer and project manager and was first appointed to the Senate in 2018.
