Bahamas continues strong showing, extending points lead after second day of action

FORT-DE-FRANCE, Martinique, CMC – Despite being overtaken for the lead in the girls’ division, The Bahamas has managed to widen the gap in the overall points standings at the end of day two in the 2026 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships here on Sunday.

Jamaica now leads among the girls with 189 points, three more than The Bahamas, with Trinidad and Tobago third on 149 points, Barbados fourth (147), and the Cayman Islands fifth (134).

However, the Bahamas rose from third place to second among the boys (200.5 points), trailing only Trinidad and Tobago, which have accumulated 208 points. Jamaica is now in third position (186), while Barbados (171) and the Cayman Islands (148.5) round out the top five.

As a result, The Bahamas, which started the day with a narrow five-point lead, sits on 386.5 points, 13.5 points ahead of second-placed Jamaica on 375 points.

Trinidad and Tobago are still in a striking position in third place on 357 points, with Barbados (318) and the Cayman Islands (282.5) fourth and fifth, respectively.
