PARAMARIBO, Suriname, CMC – The Suriname Foundation for Responsible Alcohol Use (STIVASUR) and the Suriname Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHATA) have signed a partnership agreement to promote responsible alcohol use in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

According to the agreement that was officially ratified during a meeting with representatives of both organizations, the parties said they are taking an essential step toward positioning Suriname internationally as a safe, hospitable, and socially responsible destination.

Through the agreement, STIVASUR and SHATA commit to integrating responsible alcohol service into the broader hospitality and tourism experience.

The partnership focuses on, among other things, education and awareness campaigns on responsible alcohol use, joint promotion of responsible alcohol use during tourism events, and policy development and research on standards for responsible alcohol use in the hospitality sector.

The two organisations say this collaboration will contribute to Suriname’s further profile as a destination where quality, responsibility, and guest well-being are paramount.

They said this will set an industry-wide standard for a safer and more responsible future.
