KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – Magistrate Rechanne Browne Friday adjourned to Monday next week a case in which a nurse is facing two charges related to cocaine with a street value of EC$1.8 million (One Ec dollar=US$0.37 cents)
Lucresha Nanton, 35, pleaded guilty at the Serious Offences Court to a charge that on January 22, 2022, she had in her possession 59,939 grams of cocaine with intent to supply. However, she pleaded not guilty to possession of the drug for drug trafficking.
The prosecutor told the Magistrate’s Court that it needed some time to decide how to proceed as regards the not-guilty plea.
The state also disclosed that it had received, earlier on Friday, a document from the defense counsel Ronald “Ronnie” Marks and had not been able to examine the record properly.
Chief Magistrate Browne adjourned the matter to Monday and allowed the nurse to remain on bail.
