CASTRIES, St Lucia, CMC- St Lucia Prime Minister Philip Pierre is among several Caribbean leaders slated to attend the second annual AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2023) in Guyana this year.
ACTIF2023 is one of the partnership initiatives between the African Export-Import Bank (“AFREXIMBANK”) and Caribbean stakeholders and will take place from October 30-31, 2023.
Its objective is to foster stronger economic ties, encourage trade, and facilitate investment opportunities between Africa and the Caribbean. It provides a unique platform for the AfriCaribbean business community to establish new commercial relationships, enhance Government-Business relations, and promote inter-regional trade and investment through effective business matchmaking.
Additionally, ACTIF2023 provides access to market and investment information, encouraging strategic partnerships and promoting economic diversification by fostering technological innovation, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives.
This year’s forum, it is hoped, would help to foster cultural exchange as it celebrates the shared heritage of the African-Caribbean region through cultural exchange programs, creating a deeper understanding of the connected history of the regions.
A statement for the Prime Minister’s office in St. Lucia said Pierre is “honored to join other distinguished leaders at ACTIF2023 to explore opportunities for strengthening economic ties between Africa and the Caribbean,” adding that “this event presents a unique chance to engage in fruitful discussions, establish partnerships, and work towards a future of increased trade and investment opportunities.”
