(BROOKLYN, New York): Despite the recent arrival in St Kitts and Nevis of a contingent from the Regional Security System (RSS), local police have confirmed a recent shooting that also turned into a robbery. Reports from the capital say that two armed and masked men shot and injured 44-year-old Wayne Connor of St Paul’s.
Police said Connor “was sitting on wall in the vicinity of a supermarket along the Island Main Road when two masked gunmen ran up from a road and began firing shots at him. The men then made their way up to Rawlins Avenue and robbed two individuals at gun point.” A local source said Connor received gunshot wounds to the back and hand and the youths were robbed of their cell phones.
Police said Connor was transported to the JN France Hospital in Basseterre where he is listed as being in a stable condition. “Investigations into the matter are ongoing. Persons with information regarding this incident are urged to contact the Violent Crime Unit” the police statement said. And this past Friday shots were fired at men working on the roof of a building in the New Road area. Police are yet to issue a statement on that shooting incident and others.
