ABUJA, Nigeria, CMC – A Surinamese national, who came here in search of his “long lost” Nigerian father, has been detained by the authorities after several drugs had been found in oversized latex condoms.
In a statement, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said that the 34-year-old suspect had been arrested at the Port Harcourt International Airport after 117 hidden packages of cocaine in large latex condoms had been found in body spray bottles.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said the suspect claimed that he had come to the African country “in search of his long-lost Nigerian father whom he called Omini.”
Meanwhile, NDLEA said its agents at the Tincan seaport in Lagos had also intercepted 110 packages of Colorado, a cannabis strain weighing 55 kg, hidden in a container marked MSCU 4972769 from Toronto via Montreal, Canada.
They said the illegal shipment was discovered in the container containing five used vehicles and that the seizure was part of a total of 1.5 metric tons of the psychoactive substance seized in five states last week during interdiction operations.
