KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Three soldiers who were on trial for the 2010 murder of businessman Keith Clarke have been freed.
The ruling was handed down on Thursday morning in the anime Circuit Court by Justice Dale Palmer, who said Corporals Greg Tingling and Odel Buckley, along with Private Arnold Henry, did not have a case to answer.
The soldiers were charged with murder after Clarke was shot and killed at his St. Andrew home during a police-military operation on May 27, 2010.
The operation was to apprehend then-fugitive Christopher “Dudus” Coke.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) said it stands with the three soldiers who have been exonerated for the 2010 murder of businessman Keith Clarke.
In a statement this morning, the JDF said the verdict brings relief to the service members, who can now reclaim their freedom and rebuild their lives.
It said the decision reinforces its faith in its members and the justice system.
The JDF also acknowledged the profound loss experienced by the Clarke family and said it continues offering sincere condolences.
