KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – The Public Procurement Commission (PPC) says it has successfully retained the internationally recognized ISO 9001:2015 Certification for its Quality Management System (QMS).
ISO certification is a seal of approval from a third-party body that a company runs to one of the international standards developed and published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The PPC said it had first received the certification in 2022.
It stated that the certification, issued by the National Certification Body of Jamaica (NCBJ), is valid for three years.
“The PPC operations were effectively planned and controlled as depicted in its sequence and interaction of processes. The QMS was well-established, maintained, and continually improved, and was effective. Where necessary, corrective action and risk-mitigation measures were utilized to enhance adherence to plans and to achieve intended outcomes,’ the Audit Report stated.
Among the PPC activities scrutinized were its robust processes for monitoring and measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) across various channels.
“The PPC is devoted to exceeding the expectations of its stakeholders and in implementing policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which give vigilant oversight to Jamaica’s public procurement sector,” said the PPC’s executive director, Mrs. Nadia Morris, adding that the PPC continues to make significant strides in serving its stakeholders and enabling improved public procurement.
The PPC, established on April 1, 2019, under the Public Procurement Act of 2015, examines and provides oversight of Jamaica’s public procurement processes.
