The Opposition has called on INDECOM to investigate the murder of a four-year-old child during a police-military operation in Granville, St James, on New Year's Day.

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Leader of the main opposition People’s National Party (PNP), Mark Golding, is calling on the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) to conduct a thorough probe into a murder that occurred in downtown Kingston on Sunday.

The victim is a former footballer, Lucien Anderson, who was shot and killed in an alleged confrontation with the police.

In a post on social media, Golding said the circumstances under which Anderson, 55, was killed at his home are troubling.

The police say the confrontation with Anderson happened on Sunday – they seized13 rounds of ammunition in the incident.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of INDECOM, Hugh Faulkner, says a probe is underway.
