KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – The Ministry of Entertainment says it raised an estimated J$200 million (One Jamaica dollar=US$0.008 cents) from its ‘I Love Jamaica’ concert series, aimed at supporting the country’s recovery efforts, following the passage of Hurricane Melissa in October 2025.

The concert series includes events held in Jamaica and at venues overseas, supported by international artistes and the country’s reggae and dancehall music fraternity.

Speaking at the official launch for Reggae Month held last week, portfolio Minister Olivia Grange said the funds raised so far are being “deposited directly to the Support Jamaica account”.

“Some is still being deposited, and we have concerts being lined up in the continent of Africa, as well as in the big leagues,” Grange stated.

She went on to commend the Jamaican music industry for acting as “first responders” following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa, using their talents to uplift the nation.

“I’m very proud of the industry, all our artistes. I want to thank the industry for stepping up and going out there to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers. We want to send a message of love and solidarity with the hopeful message that every little thing is going to be all right,” Grange said.

She noted that a special message of hope is being extended to western Jamaica, with Reggae Month activities set to commence on February 1.

“We are reaching out to our brothers and sisters in western Jamaica, and to our family and friends across the world facing various crises, as well as all who mourn at this time,” she said.
