KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Jamaicans in the United Arab Emirates, UAE, have been advised of a charter flight being coordinated by several Caribbean countries that may be able to accommodate those wanting to leave the region.

The advisory to Jamaicans was posted in a letter from Jamaica’s ambassador designate to the UAE and Qatar, Jason Hall. According to Nationwide News, the chartered flight is being arranged by Dominica, Barbados, Grenada, and the Bahamas.

The expatriates have been told that those arranging the flight needed to have a clear sense of how many people were prepared to leave within three to seven days for the flight to London.

Hall says those interested will be required to pay for their own airfare.

He also said the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) governments may be called upon to pay the difference or subsidize the shortfall.

Ambassador Hall further informed the expatriates that the UK allows transit without a visa if a connecting flight is in less than 24 hours.
