KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says that, up to May 7, Jamaica had received 1.7 million visitors.

He notes that based on preliminary data, the island recorded 1,016,180 stopover arrivals and over 700,000 cruise passengers.

This represents a 4.6 percent increase in stopover arrivals and a 23% increase in cruise passengers compared to a similar period in 2023.

The country has also earned roughly one point US$8 billion in revenue to date.

Bartlett, currently leading a mission at the Arabian travel market in Dubai, reaffirmed Jamaica’s ambitious goals. The island is steadfast in its aim to welcome five million visitors and generate US$5 billion dollars in revenue by 2025.

“The future of our thriving tourism industry hinges on our dedicated workers’ innovation, agility, and creativity. They are the heart of our hospitality and the reason we have been able to bounce back from the pandemic. In Jamaica, our workers are the backbone of our success, contributing to our enviable 42 percent repeat visitor rate,” emphasized Bartlett.
