A six-month-old baby girl, Nymerah Graham, has died in an early morning fire that destroyed her family's home in Montpelier, St James.

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – A six-month-old baby has died after a fire of unknown origin swept through a modest building in the community called Guinep Tree in Montpelier, St James, on the northwest coast of the island on Tuesday.

The baby girl died as a result of the burns she sustained as the fire destroyed the house, made of boards with a zinc roof, which occurred at 1.00 am (local time).

Firefighters are currently on the scene.
