EDMONTON, Alberta, CMC – Barbadian N’Rico Prescod rode two winners at Century Mile on Friday to headline Caribbean success on the nine-race program.

The 25-year-old captured race three with favorite Church Harbor and returned to win race eight with a 2-1 choice Charlie’s Copy to take some of the headlines at the western Canada oval.

Trinidadian Keihton Natera also tasted victory, combining with a 2-1 chance Al Reichert to beat the three-year-olds and upwards by 1-½ lengths over six furlongs.

Rasheed Hughes made his presence felt in race six over a mile when he carried heavy favorite Lykan to a one-length score over the three-year-olds and upwards, while fellow Barbadian veteran Desmond Bryan, paired with 3-1 bet Bunny Noreen to edge the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares by a head in a six-furlong sprint in race seven.

Hughes lies third in the jockeys championship with 13 wins, three behind reigning champion Jamaican Dane Nelson, with Jose Asencio at the top with 22, while Prescod and Bryan both have seven wins.

Prescod opened his account over seven furlongs when he made all the running aboard a four-year-old chestnut filly to dominate the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares by 3-¼ lengths.

His second win came in a six-furlong sprint when he steered three-year-old bay gelding Charlie’s Copy to a handsome three-length win over the three-year-olds and upward.

Longshot Run Rossco Run sparred with 13-1 outsider Kiss Me Hello through the opening half in 46.59 seconds before Prescod brought Charlie’s Copy from a stalking position to take command in the stretch.
