QUEENS, New York, CMC – Romero Maragh enjoyed a memorable day in the saddle when he logged a three-timer on the nine-race card on Sunday at the Aqueduct racetrack in the United States.

The 23-year-old jockey with Jamaican roots is tied with Eclipse award-winning apprentice Jose Antonio Gomez on ten wins for the season at the track, the only racing facility located within the New York City limits and home of the New York Racing Association, the state’s horse racing authority.

Maragh opened his account with a convincing, eight-length win aboard the 3-1 bet Joey the Fish in the U.S. $28 000 second race over one mile on the dirt track.

Joey the Fish vied for the early lead between rivals and then outside a duo on the turn before Maragh positioned the three-year-old, dark bay filly three wide to make a bid for victory, and she drew off in the lane to prove much best for a time of one minute, 38.83 seconds.

Maragh then drove the 3-1 choice Sweet as Sugar to a two 3/4-lengths win in the U.S. $28 000 third race over seven furlongs on the dirt track.

He hustled Sweet as Sugar to the front, and his mount showed the way with a clear advantage before the four-year-old, dark bay filly controlled the action while inside on the turn, turned into the upper stretch under a drive, drew off into the final furlong and held under steady urging to clock 1 min, 25.54 secs.

Maragh returned later to grab a three 1/2-lengths win astride the raging hot favorite White Chocolate in the U.S. $90 000 eighth race over six furlongs on the dirt track.

White Chocolate was away alertly and crossed over to set the pace while racing in the two paths before the three-year-old, grey filly kicked out, leaving the turn, and was never headed to finish in 1:10.58.
