EDMONTON, Alberta, CMC – Jamaican Dane Nelson stretched his lead in the jockeys standings at Century Mile after producing a superb triple on Sunday’s seven-race card.

The 38-year-old won with a 2-1 choice Pump the Brakes in race four, favorite Agent C in race six, and a 2-1 chance Smilin Evie in race seven to climb to 33 wins for the season.

Nelson is now four clear of Jose Asencio, with Enrique Gonzalez and Alexander Marti locked in third on 27 and Barbadian N’Rico Prescod lying fifth on 24.

After missing out on his two previous rides on the day’s program, Nelson finally tasted success when he produced a stalking ride aboard four-year-old bay gelding Pump the Brakes to get the better of the three-year-olds and upward by half-length.

In a 5-½ furlong sprint, 8-1 bet Fast Eh led early on before Nelson wore down the leader to get by late at the wire.

Nelson’s second victory came over 6-½ furlongs when he carried the three-year-old brown gelding Agent C to a dominant eight-length crushing of the three-year-olds and upward.

Two-to-one bet Charming Vintage, with veteran Barbadian rider Desmond Bryan aboard, led the race through the early fractions until Nelson brought Agent C to challenge at the quarter pole and take over the running.

Nelson’s third win came in a six-furlong sprint when he combined four-year-old chestnut filly Smilin Evie to collar the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares by 3-¾ lengths.

Smilin Evie battled with favorite Edge of Okotoks before getting clear on the far turn and pulling away to win handsomely.

There were also wins on the day’s card for Prescod, who captured race two over 6-½ furlongs with favorite Rose Rose Rose, Jamaican Andre Martin, who produced an eight-length score in race three over six furlongs with famous Brody’s Pal, and Barbadian Rashaun Griffith who won a photo-finish with 31-1 longshot Manforallseasons in race five over a mile.
