GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC—Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh will address a one-day conference on November 26 on critical domestic and international banking issues.
The World Trade Centre Georgetown (WTCG) said the conference, which will be held under the theme “Banking Made Easier,” is being held at a time of transformational developments in global business, technological advancements in banking operations, enhanced regulatory safeguards, and the need for easier access to financing on the part of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Apart from Singh, the conference will also be addressed by Robin van Puyenbroek, the executive director of business development at the World Trade Centers Association and Co-Chair of the US EXIM Bank’s Advisory Council on Small Business.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Guyana, Dr. Gobind Ganga, the chairman of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), Komal Samaroo, and the DBL’s chief executive officer, Dowlat Parbhu, will also address the one-day event.
“The conference will bring together industry leaders to discuss actionable strategies and cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of banking in Guyana and its relationship to the global banking sector,” the WTCG said.
They said that among the issues for discussion will be access to trade and business financing, banking regulations, and the anti-money laundering landscape in Guyana, as well as correspondent banking, banking instruments for Diaspora communities, online banking, and international payment instruments.
