On Thursday, GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – President Dr. Irfaan Ali received the prestigious Global Leadership Award for Open Innovation (2024) from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ali was nominated for this award because of his commitment to using technology and innovative business models to expand Guyana’s markets. The university noted that the president’s strategies were researched carefully and documented.
President Ali received the award at a ceremony held at the NASA Ames Research Centre, where the Berkeley Innovation Forum 2025.
Several distinguished persons, from former United States President Obama to business tycoon Warren Buffet, have also received this award.
This is not the first time that Ali has been recognized globally for his leadership.
He was previously recognized for his vision and leadership on environmental stewardship, sustainability, food security, and inclusive economic growth.
