GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Government employees are scheduled to receive the 2025 retroactive salary increase before the upcoming general election.
This is according to Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, who on Thursday said he e hoped that Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh had already started putting arrangements in place for the payout.
The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) and the government signed an agreement in December 2024 for an 8% salary increase for 2025.
They have already received a 10 percent pay hike for 2024, in keeping with the agreement.
The Guyana Teachers’ Union and the Ministry of Education signed a three-year agreement last year to provide for salary increases of 10% for 2024, 8% for 2025, and 9% for 2026, in addition to a series of other benefits.
