GAMES-Guyanese Abrams Archibald medal in 100m

SANTIAGO, Chile, CMC – Jasmine Abrams captured silver and teammate Emanuel Archibald as Guyana tasted success in the 100-meter finals at the Pan American Games here Tuesday night.

Abrams, 29, clocked 11.52 seconds to follow home winner Cuban Yunisleydis García, who was timed at 11.36 seconds.

Trinidadian Michelle-Lee Ahye, a former Commonwealth sprint champion, clinched bronze at 11.53.

Ahye’s teammate, Reyare Thomas, finished sixth in 11.69.

Archibald, meanwhile, crossed the line in 10.31, as José González of the Dominican Republic took gold in 11.36, with Brazil’s Felipe Bardi second in 10.31.

Jamaican Odaine McPherson was one from last in 10.44.
On Wednesday, Abrams’ younger sister, Aliyah Abrams, will line up in the final of the women’s 400-meter final as the only Caribbean athlete in the event.
