LONDON, CMC – Manchester City’s prolific Reggae Girl forward Khadija “Bunny” Shaw is in line for her first-ever Women’s Super League Player-of-the-Season honor after being nominated for the award. The Women’s Super League, a top-tier professional league for women’s football in England, is highly competitive and being nominated for this award is a significant recognition of Shaw’s talent and performance.

The 27-year-old is not alone in her journey. She is joined by City goalkeeper Khiara Keating. Together, they have played pivotal roles in propelling the club to the top of the league with 52 points, three clear of the defending champions, who have a game in hand. Their collective efforts have been instrumental in the team’s success.

Shaw has netted a league-leading 21 goals in 18 WSL games this season, scoring 22 in 25 appearances in all competitions.

However, her season ended prematurely late last month when she sustained a broken foot against West Ham and was forced off at half-time after scoring twice.

She subsequently underwent surgery.

Shaw’s indomitable spirit shines through. Despite the setback of a broken foot in the game against West Ham, she remained steadfast. ‘Devastated to learn of my broken foot but thankful the surgery was successful. The most compelling narratives are those that defy all odds,’ she shared on Instagram post-surgery, a testament to her unwavering resilience.

Shaw, City’s Player-of-the-Season last year, has enjoyed another stunning campaign with three hat-tricks among her achievements.

She put three past Tottenham in a 7-0 hammering last November, followed up with another in a 4-1 crushing of Everton the following month before completing a third in a 5-1 win over Liverpool.

Shaw has etched her name in City’s history books this season. She scored her 18th goal, surpassing Georgia Stanway’s previous record of 68, to become City’s all-time leading goal-scorer. This is a momentous achievement, a testament to her skill and dedication, and a source of pride for all City fans.
