LONDON, CMC – Jamaican and Manchester City forward Khadija “Bunny” Shaw has made it to the latest voting stage for the women’s Ballon d’Or award. The 27-year-old Shaw cut the list of nominees for the prestigious award and reduced it to 30.
Among those still in the running for the award are her Manchester City teammates Yui Hasegawa and Lauren Hemp and last year’s winner, Aitana Bonmati.
Shaw is seeking her third award. She has already been named PFA Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Association Women’s Footballer of the Year.
Despite suffering a broken foot, she scored 21 goals from 18 appearances for Manchester City in the Women’s Super League (WSL) last season, to end as the highest scorer in the WSL.
Shaw has spent the last two and a half seasons with Manchester City and is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 72 goals.
The Ballon d’Or is awarded by the French magazine France Football. The winners in each category will be announced at a ceremony scheduled for October 28 at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris.
