LONDON, CMC – A long-range strike from Jamaica international Bobby Reid gave Fulham an edgy 1-0 victory over Championship side Rotherham and put them into the fourth round of the FA Cup here Friday.

The 30-year-old collected the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box in the 24th minute and unleashed a thunderous drive, which left Swedish goalkeeper Viktor Johansson with little chance.

For Reid, the goal was his second in as many games following his winner against Arsenal last weekend in a 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage.

“We always had the possession. I think until the first goal, probably more than 80 percent of possession, [but] not many chances, to be honest,” said manager Marco Silva.

“But we scored, created three or four chances to score more goals, and [gave] nothing for them.

“We deserve to be in the next round. A clean sheet is always important. I think we did control their direct game well. You know there will also be long throw-ins in our box, all that stuff.”

Fulham camped out in Rotherham’s half but failed to create clear-cut opportunities until Reid’s magic moment.

Harry Wilson chased down center-back Sebastian Revan in the box and pressured the 20-year-old, forcing a turnover that fell kindly to Reid, who thumped in his fifth goal of the season.

Andreas Pereira then struck the post late in the half before Tosin Adarabioyo saw his header pushed over the bar by Johansson in the second half.
