LONDON, CMC – Jamaican Omari Hutchinson came off the bench to score a dramatic injury-time winner as Ipswich beat Rotherham 4-3 in a see-sawed contest in the Championship.

When Cafú clipped in a 94th-minute penalty, Rotherham thought they had grabbed a share of the points, but the 20-year-old Hutchinson broke their hearts moments later, getting free and producing a clinical low finish for his fifth campaign goal.

“It was a bit of a wild game and not the game we were looking for, but I guess in some ways a happy ending,” said Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna.

“It was lovely for Omari, a young player, to step up and win the game in the last minute at home, which we need to enjoy.”

He continued: “We didn’t drop our heads at 3-3, which we quickly could have done, giving the game up, but we came back with another punch.

“It was a moment for him to savor at the start of what I think can be a successful career.”

Playing at Portman Road in the east of England on Tuesday evening, the hosts fell behind after only two minutes through Tom Eaves’s strike, but Wes Burns equalized in the ninth with the first of a brace when he met captain Sam Morsy’s cross at the back post.

Kieffer Moore put Ipswich – dubbed the Tractor Boys – ahead in the 14th with his fourth goal in five games, and Ipswich appeared out of sight in the 29th when Burns poked home a rebound after goalkeeper Viktor Johansson had saved the initial shot.

The drama unfolded, however, when Hakeem Odoffin pulled one back on the hour mark after Ipswich goalkeeper Václav Hladký had punched out and Cafú’s penalty, after Peter Kioso took a tumble in the box, leveled the game.

A 72nd-minute substitute, the on-loan Chelsea forward Hutchinson crowned himself in glory with a superb late strike.

The victory left Ipswich third but level with second-placed Leeds United on 69 points.

In the National League, St Lucia international Dominic Poleon grabbed his 14th campaign goal as Ebbsfleet United edged Woking 1-0 at Stonebridge Road.

The 30-year-old beat goalkeeper, Alexis Andre Jr with a deft finish in the 18th minute, keeping Ebbsfleet four points above the drop zone where Woking already lies.
