LONDON, CMC – In-form Reggae Boy Jonson Clarke-Harris opened the scoring with his 24th goal as Peterborough United fired a warning to their play-off rivals with an impressive 3-0 win over Lincoln City in England’s League One’s early kick-off on Saturday.

Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough – nicknamed Posh – cut the gap to sixth to just four points as they inflicted the Imps’ first home league defeat of the season at Sincil Bank.

Jack Taylor and Joe Ward added to Clarke-Harris’ 28th-minute strike – in which he fired home unmarked after Harrison Burrows dummied Nathanael Ogbeta’s cross from the left – in the second half as the visitors made it back-to-back away wins.

The victory delighted manager Ferguson, who was full of praise for his 28-year-old Reggae Boy’s contribution, saying: “It’s an excellent finish from Jonno (Clarke-Harris).

“He’s on fire now, and he was unplayable today. He was magnificent. He won every header, closed them down, pressed, and was an absolute threat. It was a fantastic finish as well.”

Kairo Mitchell, Jacob Hazel, and Ahkeem Rose were other Caribbean players on target.

Mitchell, a 25-year-old Grenada striker on loan at fifth-tier National League outfit Eastleigh from promotion-chasing rivals Notts County, doubled his side’s lead after 10 minutes as they strengthened their play-off push with a 3-2 win against mid-table Altrincham at Silverlake Stadium.

It was Mitchell’s third goal of the season after netting twice for Notts County.

In the sixth-tier National League North, St Kitts and Nevis striker Hazel rounded out the scoring on 89 minutes at Blackwell Meadows as fifth-placed Darlington cruised to a 3-0 home win over Hereford.

In the National League South, Jamaican Rose – a 24-year-old forward – nicked all three points deep into injury time as Weymouth edged Welling United 2-1. They remain one from the bottom despite the points.

Dominic Poleon, a 29-year-old forward eligible to represent St Lucia, lit up the division by scoring four times – including a first-half hat-trick – as runaway leaders. Ebbsfleet United defeated Dulwich Hamlet 4-2 at Kuflink Stadium.

The four-timer took Poleon’s tally to 33 goals this season.
