LONDON– Former Young Reggae Boyz attacking midfielder Jevani Brown has been hailed as “outstanding for us” by Exeter City manager Matt Taylor, and others have started to take notice after his side’s 4-0 win over Port Vale in England’s League One.
Taylor said the work rate of the 27-year-old UK-born forward, who bagged a brace on Saturday to add to the assist he provided for Sam Nombe in last week’s season-opening 1-1 draw at Lincoln City, has been “exceptional.”
The win in their first third-tier home game for more than a decade saw City go second in the early League One table.
Exeter, promoted last season after finishing second to champions Forest Green Rovers, will be in action again on Tuesday night at League One rivals Cheltenham Town in the League Cup.
“Jevani’s been outstanding for us for some time now, and I think other people are starting to notice it,” Taylor said.
“Two goals, as always, he gets assists, and he’s always involved in our creative play because he’s the most cultured player we’ve got.
“But his work rate at the top end of the pitch, along with Sam [Nombe], is exceptional.
“He has to remember that he has to keep doing that first and foremost, and he’ll get the rewards and all the plaudits off the rest of his game because he’s got the quality.”
Brown joined Exeter last season after being released at the end of his contract by League Two side Colchester United, having scored 11 goals in 62 appearances for the club.
