MIAMI, Florida, CMC – Guyana booked their spot in the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship at the expense of Haiti. At the same time, Trinidad & Tobago was eliminated from the qualifying stage on Tuesday night.

Needing a win to advance to the next phase of the competition, Guyana defeated Haiti 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Myanne Fernandes in the 54th minute.

With the win, Guyana leapfrogged Haiti to finish in first place in Group A with seven points, with Haiti second with six points.

They joined Puerto Rico, Panama, Canada, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica in the next round and will face Mexico and the United States to battle for four spots in the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup.
