Michail Antonio eyes return after broadcast deal
Antonio remains eager to play again despite new broadcasting deal

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Former West Ham striker Michail Antonio will serve as a broadcaster on TNT Sports’ team of pundits ahead of the upcoming English Premier League season.

However, the Jamaican international said, despite his latest move, he still wants to play football at “the highest level” after recovering from an almost career-ending injury following a car crash in December 2024.

In a recent announcement by TNT Sports, they revealed that Antonio will join former Tottenham and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, former England international Fara Williams, retired Scottish professional footballer Jennifer Beattie, and Bristol City’s first-time coach, Anita Asante.

It comes days after West Ham announced that the 35-year-old Antonio, a free agent, will not sign a new contract with the club.

Antonio made 323 appearances over a decade at West Ham, scoring 83 goals.

While he expressed excitement about his new venture, Antonio said he was still yearning to get back on the football pitch as a player.

“I’m speaking to clubs right now to see where the best offer is for me to go, and we’ll just see how it goes.

“To be honest, there’s a mixture, we’re talking to clubs here, we’re talking to clubs abroad, but I’m going to leave it vague,” he told talkSPORT.

Antonio, who resumed playing for the Reggae Boyz in the Concacaf Gold Cup after his recovery, says he also hopes to fulfill his dream of playing in the World Cup, slated to be held in the USA next year.

“That’s one thing I’ve not managed to achieve for myself, to be playing in the World Cup, and Jamaica is very close to it.

“It’s not just that. I wouldn’t want my career to come to an end by a car crash, literally. So I’ve got something to prove to show that I can come back, I can come back and play well, which I was doing for the last 10 years,” Antonio said.
