ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – Dominica will host the weekly long 17th annual conference of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Credit Union conference from Tuesday, with the organizers saying it provides an opportunity for the sub-region to reflect on the programs made over the past years.

The October 24-29 event, which will be held under the theme “Credit Unions: Empowered to Thrive in an Evolving Landscape,” will feature panel discussions and interactive sessions to promote innovation and development within the credit union sector.

President of the Dominica Cooperative Societies League Ltd, Dr. Damien Dublin, said the conference “serves as a pivotal moment for us to reflect on our progress, share insights, and strategize for the future.

“As we gather here, I am confident that the collaborations, discussions, and partnerships we foster will strengthen our movement, empower our communities, and prepare us to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing financial environment,” he said, extending “our heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors, partners, and participants.”

The Deputy Governor of the St. Kitts-based Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Dr. Valda Henry, will be the keynote speaker at the conference. The organizers say she is well-regarded in finance and leadership and will share insights regarding the changing financial environment and credit unions’ essential role in enhancing economic resilience.
