HAVANA, Cuba, CMC – Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Wednesday denounced what he says is the continuous imperial harassment against Venezuela.
In a statement posted to his social media account on X, the Cuban head of state condemned foreign interference and the attacks by the “oligarchy and media and political manipulation to encourage destabilization and pave the way for a coup to overthrow the legitimate Bolivarian and Chavista government.”
Diaz-Canel, the First Secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party, shared part of his speech at the 11th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our Americas-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) regional organization on his X message.
In that speech, the Cuban leader called for unity and firmness in the face of imperialism and the oligarchies, who take advantage of just the slightest chance to attack the victory and stability of any people-favoring forces. Thus, they hinder social development policies and destroy the dreams made come true if they get to power.
The ALBA-TCP member nations called for respect for Venezuela’s sovereignty and self-determination and affirmed their commitment to the principles of solidarity, social justice, and cooperation, which are major foundations of the regional integration organization.
The leaders, in a joint declaration, backed Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro against the transnational power attack, which has imposed over 930 unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela.
