HAVANA, Cuba, CMC – The governments of Cuba and Peru this week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in tourism, which was considered a significant bilateral move in the sector.
.The document was penned in the Peruvian capital Lima by Cuban deputy tourism minister Yamily Aldama and by Peru’s Tourism and Foreign Trade Desilu Leon.
The MOU enhances the exchange in professional training, promotes tourist destinations, and addresses other strategic areas to improve the tourist sector’s performance, benefiting both Latin American nations.
During the official meeting this week, the two officials addressed the potential for bilateral cooperation. They considered the Cuban experience in developing the sun-and-beach modality, which is currently being promoted in Peru.
The Cuban deputy tourism minister also met with travel agencies and tour operators to discuss the new products and opportunities available in Cuba.
Aldama is heading a Cuban delegation to the 70th Meeting of the United Nations Regional Tourism Commission for the Americas, focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence in the development of tourism in this part of the world.
