DALLAS, United States, CMC – Andre Russell grabbed three wickets to help the Los Angeles Knight Riders to a six-wicket victory over the Seattle Orcas here on Sunday, their first win in this season’s Major League Cricket competition.
Russell took 3-30 from his four overs, as the Knight Riders limited the Orcas to 177 for six from their 20 overs at the Grand Prairie Stadium after they won the toss and chose to bat.
Barbadian Aaron Jones hit the top score of 44 off 36 balls, while David Warner contributed 38, and Shayan Jahangir hit 26 for the Orcas.
Shimron Hetmyer made 19 from 12 balls, batting at number six.
Player-of-the-Match Unmukt Chand then blasted an unbeaten 86 from 58 balls, and Saif Badar smashed 54 from 32 balls as the Knight Riders coasted to 178 for four in 18.2 overs.
It was their first victory in four outings and helped to end a three-game losing streak.
Chand hit 10 fours and four sixes, while Badar struck four sixes and two fours, with the pair sharing a 139-run partnership for the third wicket, which rescued their side from 7-2 in the third over.
Sherfane Rutherford finished on 20 not out from just nine balls, with two sixes and one four.
