RANCHI, India, CMC – Former West Indies pair Ashley Nurse and Ricardo Powell played supporting knocks. Still, India Capitals fell three runs short in their chase against Urbanrisers Hyderabad in the Legends League on Thursday.

Nurse made 41, and Powell added 26, but former England star batsman Kevin Pietersen scored 77. Capitals failed to successfully chase a target of 190 in the day-night, fifth match of the Twenty20 tournament at JSCA International Stadium.
Former Barbados captain and West Indies vice-captain Kirk Edwards got 11 before he fell to compatriot and former West Indies fast bowler Tino Best in the fifth over and had Capitals scrambling on 48 for four at the end of the Power Play.

Powell put on 72 for the fifth wicket with Pietersen to get the run chase back on track before he departed with 75 needed from 42 balls.

Pietersen, whose knock included four fours and six sixes from 48 balls, then shared 42 with Nurse for the sixth wicket before left-arm pacer Pawan Suyal bowled him with 33 needed from 14 balls.

Nurse gave it his best shot in the closing stages, and he struck five fours and one six from 25 balls, but the mountain of runs was too steep for him and the rest of the batting to climb.

The result meant that the Capitals are still win-less after two matches, and they are fifth in the six-team tournament featuring former international players worldwide; Urbanrisers have won both their matches and top the table with four points.
Earlier, former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith opened the batting and made three, and Best did not bat, but Urbanrisers reached 189 for five from their allocation of 20 overs after they were put into bat.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann, batting at three, slammed nine fours and three sixes to anchor the innings with 89 from 54 balls; fellow former India batsman Suresh Raina made 46, and uncapped former Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego got 36; Nurse conceded 29 from three wicket-less overs.
