Akeal Hosein had a decent all-around game for the Joburg Super Kings in their win over the Pretoria Capitals.

CENTURION, South Africa, CMC – Akeal Hosein’s unbeaten 22 off 10 balls proved decisive in the Joburg Super Kings’ 22-run win over the Pretoria Capitals in their opening match of the SA20 here on Saturday.

Hosein struck two sixes and one four to help the Kings plunder 32 runs off their last three overs and get up to 168 for six in their 20 overs after being sent in to bat at SuperSport Park.

Rilee Rossouw hit the top score of 48 off 33 balls with five fours and three sixes, while Wiaan Mulder chipped in with 43 off 28 balls, in an otherwise disappointing batting display by the Kings.

Tymal Mills (2-17), Bryce Parsons (2-22), and Codi Yusuf (2-29) all took two wickets for the Capitals.

The Capitals were then given a scorching start by Parsons and fellow opener Will Smeed, with the pair putting on 71 runs in nine overs, but eventually collapsed to finish on 146-9, thanks to an impressive bowling spell by Duan Jansen.

Once Hosein bowled Smeed after he had scored 34 off 30 balls, the Capitals lost four wickets for 18 runs to slide to 89 for five.

Shai Hope was among Jansen’s victims, scoring just two runs, while Roston Chase made 15 off nine balls before being dismissed by Mulder.

Player-of-the-Match Jansen ended with figures of 4-23, while Richard Gleeson took 2-33.
