PROVIDENCE, Guyana, CMC – The ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) has secured a major coup for its 2026 edition, confirming the participation of the Desert Vipers, the most successful team in DP World International League T20 (ILT20) history.
The tournament, scheduled for July 23 to August 1, 2026, will be staged entirely at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence, setting the scene for a high-stakes clash of global franchise royalty.
Fresh from dominating the ILT20, with three finals appearances in four seasons and more wins than any other team, the Vipers add genuine star power to a competition already built on cross-border excellence.
“We are delighted to welcome the Desert Vipers to the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League,” said Sir Clive Lloyd, GSL Chairman. “Their presence adds tremendous quality and international appeal to the tournament. This is exactly what the GSL is about, uniting top teams from across leagues and creating a global stage for the game’s best talent.”
The Legendary former West Indies captain Lloyd noted that the nation’s passionate fan base and the iconic Providence venue make it an ideal host for a festival of elite T20 cricket.
“The Global Super League is designed to celebrate the spirit of cricket across borders,” he added. “Welcoming a team of the Desert Vipers’ caliber is a significant step in building a tournament that resonates with fans worldwide.”
Desert Vipers CEO Phil Oliver said the franchise is eager to make its mark, both on and off the pitch.
“The Desert Vipers are proud to be participating in the third edition of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League,” Oliver said. “By assembling successful teams from around the world, the tournament has quickly developed into a premium T20 event, and we are honored to be sharing the field with a great group of diverse and talented players.
“We hope to put on a show for the passionate cricket fans of Guyana, both inside and outside the stadium. This is a brilliant opportunity to increase the social impact we make as a community-oriented franchise through additional opportunities in a new location, as well as celebrate the immense biodiversity in Guyana.”
