MULTAN, Pakistan, CMC – West Indies Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite has rated his team’s 120-run victory over Pakistan in the second Test match as one of the best of his cricketing career.

The regional team defeated the home side in three days at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday, registering their first victory in Pakistan in over 34 years and tying the two-match series 1-1.

The 32-year-old Brathwaite also captained the side when they defeated Australia by eight runs at the Gabba a year ago, their first Test victory Down Under in 27 years.

Speaking during a post-match press conference on Monday, Brathwaite said the victory was memorable.

“It’s a significant win for us. It shows that we can do it under any conditions once we believe and always have a plan.

“It’s right up there with some amazing Test wins because playing here in Pakistan, it’s never easy to win a Test match, so coming out with a win is fantastic, and I’m very proud of this team,” Brathwaite said.

Brathwaite said he was extremely proud of his team’s performance, considering they were soundly beaten by 127 runs in the opening Test.

“I’m very proud of how we went about this game.

“Winning the toss was a plus as well, and I think Warrican and Motie in the first innings with the bat set up the game for us, so I’m very proud of this team,” Brathwaite said.

“In both Test matches, the pitch was tough to bat on, and we knew that, so I just wanted us to be brave, to do whatever plans we had and to go out there and execute them as well as possible because regardless of what, there will be a ball with your name on it on this pitch.

“It was good to see the confidence we went about doing it, and as I said, I’m very proud of this team,” he added.
