WASHINGTON, CMC – World Bank Group president Ajay Banga arrives in Jamaica on Tuesday as part of a visit to Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
The World Bank said that Banga’s visit to the LAC forms part of a month-long tour that is part of a broader effort to re-imagine strategic partnerships with other multilateral banks and development organizations and work to identify barriers for the private sector.
It also intends to identify opportunities to maximize impact through knowledge, financing, and technical assistance.
He will meet with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and the Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr. Nigel Clarke, in Jamaica.
In addition, Banga will hold several meetings with representatives from the private sector, civil society, and development partners in both Peru and Jamaica and visit World Bank Group operations in financial inclusion, urban transportation, and agriculture.
Banga will be accompanied on the visit by Ilan Goldfajn, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, World Bank Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Alfonso Garcia Mora, IFC Regional Vice President of Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
