CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC -The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission says it is relaunching the OECS Global Startup Hub as it recognizes the critical role of fostering innovation, building capacity, and driving economic growth in an evolving entrepreneurial landscape in the sub-region.

The St. Lucia-based Commission said that startups from six OECS member states, namely Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, are being invited to participate in the initiative.

“Startups must have high growth potential, with scalable ideas, and operate in the technology industry or in other industries that are interested in introducing technology to scale their business operations,” the Commission said, adding that entrepreneurs with tech-based and tech-enabled startups less than five years in operation are strongly encouraged to apply.

The OECS Global Startup Hub is being relaunched in partnership with Draper University and the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

The Commission said that technology and technology-enabled micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the OECS are invited to apply, and up to 150 successful candidates will be accepted to participate in the free, two-week Virtual Accelerator Programme.

“Twenty-two participants from this program will also get the opportunity to move onto a second immersion experience in renowned Silicon Valley in the Draper University Hero Training Programme,” the Commission said.

Through this collaboration and the support of other key private sector partners, the program will transform the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the OECS member states and unlock the full potential of technology-based startups.
