PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Nationals from Barbados, Jamaica, and Guyana are the new recipients of the Anthony N Sabga Awards, Caribbean Excellence announced here on Monday.
An eminent panel of Caribbean citizens selected the five, and each will receive half a million Trinidad and Tobago dollars (One TT dollar = 0.16 cents) in support of ongoing work that uplifts the Caribbean region.
They are Sheena Rose, a visual artist from Barbados, in the Arts & Letters category; Dean Nevers, a telecommunications entrepreneur from Jamaica, in the Entrepreneurship category; and Barbadian social activist Mrs Shamelle Rice, in the Public & Civic Contributions category.
The Guyana-United States resident Dr Niven Narain, a biotech innovator, is honoured in the Science & Technology category. At the same time, Jamaican Professor Tannecia Stephenson is also being awarded in the same category.
