BERMUDA-Bermuda’s new governor to be sworn into office.

HAMILTON, Bermuda, CMC – The new Governor of this British Overseas territory, Andrew Murdoch, will be sworn into office on Thursday, following his arrival here on Wednesday evening. On his arrival, Murdoch was met by Premier David Burt and other dignitaries.

The former navy commander will succeed Rena Lalgie, the territory’s first female governor and the first person of African ancestry to be Bermuda’s de facto head of state.

According to Murdoch, he is committed to serving the people of Bermuda and promoting and strengthening the island’s reputation.

Murdoch was the director of ocean policy at the foreign office and its legal director.

Before joining the organization 13 years ago, Murdoch served in the Royal Navy for more than two decades, reaching the rank of Commander, Head of Operations, and Director of Naval Legal Services.
