BELMOPAN, Belize, CMC – Belize has launched a project to empower 250 female entrepreneurs by providing incubation, acceleration, mentorship, and financial support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The Catalyze Her Potential: Fueling Female Entrepreneurship Project is being undertaken by NIME Belize Inc., in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB Lab).

They said the Catalyze Her Potential project will foster economic growth in Belize by supporting and accelerating female-led MSMEs by addressing key challenges faced by female entrepreneurs, such as access to finance and business support, and by creating an innovation ecosystem to unlock the private sector’s potential.

The project comprises three components: capacity building via a learning management system (LMS); networking programs to increase mentoring opportunities via LMS and events for members to exchange knowledge and tap into synergies nationally, regionally, and internationally; and a pilot seed capital component for women entrepreneurs as a microfinancing institution.

The IDB is providing US$400,000, with counterpart funding from NIME of US$ 127,400 and other stakeholders of up to US$272,600.
