BELIZE-Belize and the Republic of Korea sign grant agreement.

BELMOPAN, Belize, CMC – Belize has signed a cooperation framework agreement with the Republic of Korea to promote poverty reduction and sustainable economic, trade, and investment.

A statement issued here said that the agreement, signed by Prime Minister John Briceño, who is on an official visit to the country, also further strengthens the collaborative relations between the two countries and that the grant aid programs include inviting Belizean nationals to training programs in the Republic of Korea, sending experts and volunteers to Belize as well as providing the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country with equipment, machinery, and materials in connection with grant aid programs.

It will also facilitate construction facilities necessary for implementing these grant-aided programs and provide the Belize government with other forms of grant-aided programs, as agreed upon by both parties.

The statement said the meeting with the Korean officials also approved a Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund program at a 0.1 percent interest rate with a 30-year payback period.
