HAMILTON, Bermuda, CMC – Olympic triathlon gold medallist Dame Flora Duffy has won Bermuda’s Female Athlete-of-the-Year award for the 10th time.

The 35-year-old won the award – which was accepted by her father, Charlie, at Saturday night’s presentation ceremony at the Hamilton Princess Hotel – after claiming a record fourth triathlon world championship and retaining her Commonwealth Games title.

Duffy, who struck gold in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, plans to defend her title in Paris next year, which she describes as her “big goal,” and is embarking on a fresh approach to her preparations.

Duffy skipped this season’s World Triathlon Championship Series opener and has signaled her intention to step up in the distance and compete on the Professional Triathletes Organisation 100-kilometre Tour this season, which begins in Ibiza, Spain, on May 6.

Triple jumper Jah-Nhai Perinchief, 25, won the Male Athlete-of-the-Year award for the second year running.

Perinchief became the first Bermudian to win an athletics medal at the Commonwealth Games since 1994, capturing bronze in the triple jump and finishing as runner-up at the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletic Association Senior Championships in August.

Sailor Sebastian Kempe picked up the Male Junior Athlete-of-the-Year award with sprinter Caitlyn Bobb on hand to claim her Female Junior Athlete-of-the-Year award.
