STOCKHOLM, Sweden, CMC—Organisers indicated that two-time women’s 200-meter world champion Shericka Jackson would be one of the headline acts for the World Athletics Diamond League meet on June 2 in Sweden.
The 29-year-old Jamaican sprinter made Diamond League history last season, winning the 100m and 200m at the finals in the American city of Eugene in Oregon.
Jackson won the 200m three years ago in Stockholm but has yet to confirm which distance she will contest this year.
As a two-time world 200 champion and 100 silver medallist, she will be competitive at either distance, and it will be intriguing to discover the other competitors that organizers can attract for a showdown with her.
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track & field competitions comprising 15 of the best invitational meets.
The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the International Association of Athletics Federation) one-day meets.
