ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – Thrower Treneese Hamilton and cricketer Stephan Pascal have been named Sports Ambassadors by the Government of Dominica in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to sport.

The appointments took effect from September 1, 2025. The 22-year-old Hamilton was appointed Sports Ambassador after recently securing Dominica’s first-ever gold medal at the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay, with a record throw of 17.21 meters in the women’s shot put.

She will be allocated a housing lot and granted a diplomatic passport to facilitate her travels while representing the country of Dominica.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Pascal will serve as Youth Sports Ambassador. Pascal created history as the first Dominican to captain a West Indies Cricket team, leading the West Indies Under-19 squad at the 2024 ICC Youth Cricket World Cup in South Africa.

To further support his professional development, he will receive a monthly stipend to assist with expenses related to his cricketing career.

The ambassadorial appointments and accompanying benefits form part of the Government’s ongoing policy to recognize and empower young athletes, ensuring they are supported as role models and given every opportunity to excel.
