PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) Friday announced that it would be leading a trade mission to Guyana from Monday.

“TTMA looks forward to this physical trade mission on the invitation of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali during his address at our President’s Dinner and Awards in November 2021, as we seek to pursue the goal of our export manufacturing strategy of doubling non-energy exports by 2025,” said TTMA President, Tricia Coosal, ahead of the three-day event.

“TTMA has continued to pursue Guyana as an export market of interest on behalf of our members, hosting a Virtual Trade Mission in 2021 due to COVID-19,” she added.

The mission will comprise 21 local manufacturers, including the food and beverage, printing and packaging, chemicals, and construction sectors.

“This mission is just one of many pursued within the export booster initiative facilitated by exporTT to find further avenues for local manufacturers to compete in the regional and international markets,” she added.

The TTMA said that the delegation, which also includes its chief executive officer, Dr. Ramesh Ramdeen, general manager of export TT, Dhanraj Harrypersad,  and Navin Dookeran, the chief executive officer of the EXIM Bank “ is just one element of the TTMA’s strategy to strengthen its relationship with Guyana” and that it will be hosting trade missions to Guyana annually.

In addition, it will facilitate the participation of Guyanese companies at TIC2022. A webinar featuring Rafeek Khan, President of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association, will take place on April 5.
