CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC – Police say they have seized more than four million dollars (One EC dollar=US$0.37 cents) in drugs as well as local and United States currency during an operation at Port Castries on Thursday.

A police statement said that the joint operation involving officers of the Customs and Excise Department and the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, with support from other units within the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), resulted in the significant seizure. That one person is assisting with their investigations.

According to the police, during the inspection of a shipment, officers observed an anomaly that prompted a more thorough search.

“This led to the discovery of approximately 149.69 kilograms of compressed cannabis and 10.144 kilograms of cannabis resin. The cannabis resin has an estimated street value of EC$405,760, while the compressed cannabis is valued at approximately EC$3,742,250. Additionally, US $110,000 was found concealed within the shipment. One individual is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, which remain ongoing,” the statement said.

The announcement follows last week’s raid on a business establishment and a residence in Gros Islet, north of here.

Police said they had recovered a quantity of cannabis and cannabis resin, and two people were granted EC$2,000 bail each after they were both charged with possession of controlled drugs and possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.

Police said that they also executed a search warrant at the residence of a 53-year-old American national in Castries and that while no illegal items were discovered during the search, Nicholson was arrested in connection with a recovery on March 11, 2026, of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, which had been concealed within a package entering St. Lucia through a local courier service.

“He was subsequently charged with the offences of Importation of a controlled drug, improper Importation of goods, and fraudulent evasion of Customs Laws. He was escorted to the First District Court on Monday, March 23, 2026, and granted bail for $10,000 along with other court conditions,” the police statement added.
