Opposition legislator and former prime minister Dr Terrance Drew was arrested and later released on station bail after police executed search warrants at his constituency office and home, an action he condemned as an "abuse of power."

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – The main opposition People’s Action Movement (PAM) has confirmed that one of its members, Nubian Greaux, was taken into custody after a police search linked to suspected controlled substances.

On Thursday, the police said no charges have been filed against Greaux at this time.

In a statement issued, PAM said the search was conducted on suspicion of controlled drugs, as well as arms and ammunition, and confirmed that Greaux was subsequently detained.

The party underscored that Greaux, like any citizen, is entitled to the presumption of innocence, due process, and a fair and impartial hearing.

It also stressed that law enforcement must operate within established legal boundaries, including the proper execution of search procedures and respect for constitutional rights.

PAM said it is seeking to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and will be guided by the findings, while remaining committed to accountability, fairness, and the rule of law.
